This week may just turn out to be one of the more successful weeks this year. After many, many hours of coding a few pieces of software are ready - well, at least one of them actually is. We released a new version of our flagship product "osTube" on Monday, which includes a bunch of new features, including a brand-new WebTV mode, making our software the only free, open source WebTV application on the market. The more incredible thing is that we actually came up with the entire concept for the feature and implemented it in just over four weeks, which is quite short for a feature of this magnitude. So, the week was already good, since many hours of work paid off once again.

And as if I didn't work enough during the day, I once again took on Ayumi after I got off work. So, after a few long coding shifts I finally took a big step towards version 1.0, which is a big milestone for me. A few months back I told myself that I'd reach this milestone within Q1/2009. Since then, many things happened. Instead of developing the thing mainly for infler.de, it shifted towards a framework application that hosts employee and wage management for the bar I'm running. I also got a job, which cut down development time by about 75%. Nevertheless, I managed to implement all the major features that I wanted to implement. The entire module and update management is done, as well as language management. This means that I never have to update the software manually again, instead I simply press a few buttons in the development environment, deploy the packages to the update server, which again serves it to all installation. The entire process of building the update packages and deploying them takes about two minutes per package, while the installation on each server is done within seconds. As if that wasn't enough, adding and removing functionality is just as easy, and languages are included in the system as well!

I'll write a bit more about Ayumi in the coming weeks, once I've completed the big 1.0 Smile
